UN CHIFRE
the amazonian unicorn
colored pencil (berol prismacolor)
approx. 16" x 16"
on 180lb. Arches hot press watercolor paper
I am planning to do an original illo for this week's topic, but I couldn't resist a chance to get this guy posted... because he's one of my favorites and I love him. He lives in the trees of the Amazonian rain forest and has many cat-like traits, big cat traits that is. He's about the size of lion, but a bit larger. Omnivorous; he can and will eat anything.

This is so amazingly imaginative and wonderful! Looking at the precision with which you created this creature and it surroundings, it's easy for me to believe that it really exists! I am in awe of your talent...truly! How long does it take you to complete something like this? It's so fine and sharp!
Beautiful ! Very realistic ! Great spots on the fur !

Colored pencil?? Damn! I thought that was gouache or something. Cool character design, I like how its breaking through the frame. Thanks for stopping by my blog...and yes, Bill Peet's stuff is awesome!

I am the lucky mom of Mindy and have the original of this color-pencil drawing on my living room wall here in Maine. I, too, am in awe of your talent.
